ISLANDERS RECYCLE YOUR CRISP PACKETS!

The Walkers Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme is in full swing, but why have few Island communities signed up? Our local waste contractor does not currently recycle crisp packets, so we should be doing as much as we can to prevent these ending up in landfill. If we’re aiming for a Plastic Free Island, we shouldn’t be forgetting this favourite lunchtime snack and the huge amounts of waste it generates every day!

As an Island the Isle of Wight has finite space, and a road system that is at continual strain with high volumes of congestion, and the increasing size and sheer amount of vehicles on the road.

Carbon Dioxide emissions are the largest contributor to climate change on the planet; emissions from cars being the hefty donation. In other countries across the world and in places across the UK these issues have been identified and addressed with some gumption, other countries are now making these issues a priority.

The Workplace Engagement Programme is so much more than a Community Liftshare Scheme. 
It enables Employers to identify transport issues within their businesses, in short potentially reducing their carbon footprints, saving the business and their employees money as well as the environment.
